The latest chapter of their project was working on six 70-foot silos on Granville Island in Vancouver. The silos, part of the Ocean Cement manufacturing and distribution plant, were their first work in Canada. However, with each silo measuring 70 feet (22 meters) high and the mural covering a total of 23,500 square feet (7,200 sq meters), this piece is by far the biggest in their collection, and is their first foray into the three-dimensional mural format.

“The bolts are from an old farm in the heart of a the area Bergsladen in Sweden. I found them in a barn. They had been lying there for a long time and they might well have continued to lie there until they had rusted away and returned to their original mineral form. The bolts reminded me of human forms, and I felt they had something to tell. I heated them, forged, bent and twisted. I tried to create relations, meetings and situations and suddenly stories emerged about sorrow, joy, pain, warmth and humour. A kind of poetry was created, hence the title. All sculptures are without title, it is up to the viewer to create his or her own. The bolt people are few in numbers, and maybe these are the last ones, but those that exist will remain to tell their stories.”, Malm said.

Nathan was born in Ohio, but he lives and works in New York which is a constant inspiration for his art. “New York makes it easy to notice hilarious visual jokes all around you, everywhere. And I have forgotten so many great ideas too because I got distracted by something new – it’s why I have to text myself constantly or write things in my notebook or tell the stranger next to me on the subway.” says Pyle. Among all the city influences, his work is also inspired by some of the great illustrators like Fatheed (Aled Lewis) with his timeless concepts and D3D (Leon Ryan), “killer illustrator and master of vectors”. Try not to find it weird if you see Nathan on the subway laughing out loud to himself, it is probably the new idea coming to his mind, which you will see on your friends t-shit soon.

Today, most of his time he devotes to his artistic work, such as creative projects and exhibitions. The innovations came naturally, as an evolution from his “bad work” which made him try more, and enjoy the progress. So his art represents the search for the meaning of life but he is not trying to change the world. “We artists don’t really change the world, engineers, scientists can change the world and improve people’s conditions, artists just can’t. All we can do is feed people’s soul. So I guess that’s my main motivation.” says Ben. The self-taught photographer and artist haven’t completed his mission yet. In future he plans to work on musical project as well. You might think that it is a bit too much, but Ben doesn’t like to be criticized. His best piece of advice for anyone chasing their dream is: “Listen to your heart first, then listen to your brain and finally never listen to people criticizing you.”
