The constant presence of smartphones have helped us see the world in a different way. Many of us are guilty of spending too much time with our heads turned downward looking at our phone, but the device can also inspire us.

Here is a series of pictures made by amateur photographer and history professor Francois Dourlen. Using his iPhone, man precisely replaced famous movie stills into everyday scenes. He’s made memorable images with scenes from Lord of the Rings, Thor, Edward Scissorhands, and more. They’re all fantastic.

Cataclysm Happens, the vision of an apocalyptic world ravaged by climate changes, disappearing glaciers, drought or desertification. The digital artist and graphic designer Evgeny Kazantsev from Russia created a glimpse of a slow deteriorating world for an insurance company. The images are subtle and not completely far-fetched based on ongoing weather predictions which makes this commissioned work a smart move for an insurance company.

What Famous Buildings Look Like From Day To Night In One Photo

Time Slice is an ongoing series of photographs by Richard Silver that explores how iconic buildings and monuments change in appearance from day into night. It’s a unique look at the life of building and how it changes over time as the sky darkens and lights turn on and people leave and come back again. Each of Silver’s final pictures are made from 36 different shots taken over the course of a day at different times.

Richard explains his Time Sliced series: “The idea behind the “Time Sliced” Series was to photograph iconic buildings at sunset and capture the changing light from day to night in a single image. Originally I set out to do a book series but later realized that the format would not be conducive for a book. Experimenting with a few different kinds of processes I came up with the “Sliced” idea. I decided to Slice time and light showing the progression of the day from left to right.”

There Is No Way You'll Be Able to Find The Camouflaged Snipers In These Photos!

We spend all day staring at pixels, but really, just how good is our vision when it comes to noticing the small details in photographs? German artist Simon Menner created an interesting photo series that features military snipers’ remarkable ability to blend into their environment, producing images that appear to be simple landscape shots until you look close enough to spot the barrel of a gun.

“I found it quite interesting to work with soldiers who had been ordered to follow my instructions,” Menner said. “I tried to be as respectful to them as possible, but nothing of what I told them was questioned in any way.”. Let us know how many of the eight you got right (no cheating!):

Incredible Dreamlike Photo Manipulations Created Using Only An iPhone

By day, Robert Jahns is a digital artist and art director based in Germany. By night, he’s known as nois7 on Instagram and runs a popular account boasting more than 600,000 followers. His stream of images consists of dreamlike photos that are often clearly the result of compositing, but there’s one hidden fact that sets Jahns apart: his editing is done strictly on his iphone. With the help of image editing apps like VSCOcam, ArtStudio and Snapseed, he turns ordinary images into fantastic scenes. The editing process can be as short as two hours and as long as several days. Most of the photographs are from his travels and were shot with his iPhone or DSLR, while others are composites of stock images and collaborations with other photographers.

Some of Jahns’ photographs aren’t the result of clever manipulations at all, but are instead created from unique perspectives and opportunities. This “sitting above central park” photograph was shot from a helicopter.

Prejudice and Judgement is not going out of style anytime soon, unfortunately. Dallas-based photographer Joel Pares challenges our most common prejudices with a straight-forward photo project called “Judging America”. This collection of intriguing photos features men and women of different ethnicities or lifestyles, with each person photographed both in a negative stereotype and then in their actual clothes related to their professions.

“The purpose of this series is to open our eyes and make us think twice before judging someone, because we all judge even if we try not to,” explains Pares. “The first image is not necessarily what you actually see, but it is what you categorize them in your head without knowing who they truly are. The second image explains the truth about the person and how incorrect they were judged initially.”

These People Willingly Hung Out in Hammocks Hundreds of Feet Above The Ground

Camping in a forest or the mountains is one thing, but how about camping while suspended hundreds of feet above the ground? It may look crazy, but you sure can’t beat the view! These incredible photos are from a recent slacklining festival, the International Highline Meeting, where slackers got together in the Italian Alps, in Monte Piana to celebrate their love of being insane. The attendees call themselves “slackers” because of the slacklines they balance themselves on. Those brave enough to attend this festival were rewarded with stunning views and really cool selfies.

For this stunt a special highline set up was rigged which could carry the weight of all the people on the line at the same time. In total there were 22 in 16 hammocks on the main line. The line was around 50m above the ground and 50m in distance. The whole action lasted around 2 hours and the people involved were highline athletes attending on the festival. The action took place at around 2200 â€“ 2400 m.a.s.l. and most of the people stayed up on the mountain during the whole festival for a whole week.

Garbage is a universal problem, more so in developed and developing countries due to their extensive use of plastic, junk food and their packaging. In the U.S., the average American produces more than 4 pounds of garbage per day, and that is 50 percent more than the amount produced by Western Europeans. But those numbers are hard to visualize when our trash is hidden in containers and spirited away to landfills in the wee hours of the morning.

Gregg Segal, a photographer from California, aims to show this problem through powerful imagery, photographing people lying in the waste they produce in only 7 days. Some photographs as impressive as disturbing, which allow us to face our excesses and the environmental problems generated by our society.
