Everyone enjoys a good live show. You get to see the act that you’ve listened to on your ghettoblaster or have seen on television and you get to see them share their craft live on stage. You’ve waited weeks for your favorite band to plant ground in your sleepy hometown. However, from all those hundreds or thousands of people in the audience there are certain types of people you’re more likely to see who will probably ruin your show. These are probably the top 9 most annoying people you’ll definitely see at any concerts you go.

The Crappy Opening Band

I really don’t know if there’s a better way to start a list with the most annoying people at concerts than with the crappy opening band. Almost no one knows who these guys are and probably everyone wants them to shut the f*ck up and finish as soon as possible so their favorite band comes up. The opening band is usually shittier than you in music and it always makes you regret you arrived that early at a concert. You’ll probably blame it on a friend because he wanted to be there from the first minute and you’ll just hope your favorite band saves the day.

The Girl Who Knows Way Too Much About Each Member of the Band

This girl chooses any moment when there isn’t any music playing to “educate” everyone around her with unnecessary information about the band. She always refers to each band member by his/her first name as if they’re her close personal friends. She’s constantly telling stories about each time she’s met the band without being aware that the band is currently seeking a restraining order against her.

The Guys Too Cool to Dance or Sing

You’ll spot these guys easily in the crowd. They just stand perfectly in the same place the entire time and just observe how other people have fun, with their arms crossed and a smug look on their faces. They think it’s shitty to dance and enjoy a concert, they just talk crap about those who do. You’ll always see them in groups, usually just guys, sometimes even wearing sunglasses, even if the concert takes place indoors.

The Talker and The Whistlers

Actually, these might be two different types of annoying people at concerts but since they’re almost equally annoying I decided they should be together. These two are the types of people that always manage to ruin music for you. They either whistle when it’s clearly not needed or they just talk annoyingly about shitty topics when they should have fun instead. They talk for the entire time and you know how’s talking at concerts right? It’s more like screaming. So they scream to each other often, not in relation to the concert.

The Sweaty Guy Without A Shirt

Yeah, at every concert at some point you’ll notice a guy without a shirt. Since he probably danced a lot, he’s going to be pretty damn sweaty and for some reason he likes to move through the crowd continuously and manage to slime you. He looks as ugly as a rats ass but he feels really cool for taking his shirt off and enjoying the concert and he always leaves his snail trail all over the disgusted people around him.

The People Who Push

It will happen sooner or later at a concert. You can’t avoid it, especially if you’re somewhere close to the stage. If you’re there when your favorite band hasn’t taken the stage yet, you should just prepare for feeling like a sandwich because when your favorite band takes the stage, everyone will start pushing like they’re in a mad rush for free alcohol. There are also people who think it’s cool to start pushing each other in the middle of the crowd and somehow they always manage to push someone who doesn’t likes it and that’s how fights start.

The Super Fan Decked Out in Band Merchandise

Super Fans. They take band pride to an extreme with t-shirts of the band, hats, hoodies, patches with the band logo on on their jeans and so on. We understand you love the band but coming dressed like that to your favorite band’s concert is never the cool thing to do. Wait, there’s more. The super fans also know every song, every lyric of the song and they somehow sing the whole concert with their shitty voice. They even say the title of the song just before it starts and that’s more than enough to be annoying.

The Obnoxious Drunk Guy

We all get a drink or two at concerts but some guys don’t know there’s a limit for that too and just drink and drink and it gets worse. They’ll take their beer in the middle of the crowd and somehow manage to spill it on your best t-shirt, they’ll grope anyone in their sights and loudly shout at other people and at the performers like they could even hear them. When they’ll get pretty fucked up, they will just vomit somewhere, hopefully not in the middle of the crowd, but there’s always a chance you step in it when the concert ends.

The Huge Guy who Gets in Front of You

I don’t care how tall or fat you are. I understand everyone was mean to you and called you Godzilla while you were in high school but no one wants Godzilla in front of them at a concert. If you’re huge, the front row should be just forbidden for you. When I go to a concert I surely want to catch a glimpse of my favorite band and if a damn tall guy or a fat dude or heck… both is in front of me, all I can see is his huge back or empty ball-shaped head. That’s not great at all!

The world of music isn’t just about sounds, but sights too. Any good frontman knows that you’re going to need a slick tie to match that treble clef, a blazer than syncs with your beat, and ultimately an ensemble that engages his audience.

Here is “The Style of Music”, an illustration project about clothing styles of famous bands, designed by Glenn Michael of Moxy Creative House, and illustrated by James Alexander. Enjoy!

Andre 3000

Andre 3000 is always pushing the boundaries of both hip-hop and style, on and off the stage. Like his constant boundary pushing reinterpretation of the hip-hop genre, his loud stage persona is an exaggerated extension of his own personal style routed through dapper English gentry with a twist.

As Oscar Wilde, the definitive Dandy once said, “One should either be a work of Art, or wear a work of Art”, and no question Andre 3000 consistently achieves both, giving us his gift for music, and his unique passion for fashion.

Count on a hat being thrown into the mix almost always. Whether a fedora, panama hat, derby, newsboy, trilby, safari, or bailey, nobody has mastered the art of headwear in quite the same way.

Bob Dylan

Is it possible that Bob Dylan had too much cool? Iconic in Ray Ban wayfarers, buttoned up elegance, with a disheveled mass of hair to top it off, Dylan has been seducing generations since his debut album with his poignant perspectives and laid-back elegance.

Dylan brings the poetic lyricism of his works to his style, incorporating bumpkin charm, sombre country cool, and slim cuts for a unique style that is continually copied today by men and women alike.

We embrace the skinny blazers, stovepipe jeans, striped shirts, fitted pea coats, striped scarves, and mod boots to mimic that Dylan cool, but will we ever achieve his iconic effortless edge? It never hurts to try.

Brandon Flowers

Everybody needs to get off the back of ‘The Killers’ frontman, Brandon Flowers and his exaggerated stylings. There is definitely a strong style element that comes with the flamboyant singer who has gone through a fair share of wardrobe changes over the years that have included gold lame suits, sequins, feathered blazers, fringe, snake skinned track jackets, and let’s not forget, the introduction of “guyliner”.

The showiness of his looks should come as no surprise seeing as Mr. Flowers grew up in the city of glitter and gold, Las Vegas. On a deeper level, it’s all about the American Dream- “We were these poor kids and the whole idea of being a band was to put ourselves out there as this glamorous thing. Almost the opposite of the Strokes — these wealthy kids who are these dirty rock ‘n’ rollers. Instead of dirtying it up, it was about excess, overindulgence, and Gucci. It’s almost a hip-hop thing. Bling – that’s kinda what it was like.”

Chet Baker

Chet Baker brought a cool West Coast restraint to the jazz scene in the 1950s, a refined ‘White Boy’ cool that defied the style of the time. His compelling and vulnerable voice was matched by the vulnerability he brought to expressing himself in his iconic white t-shirts. Having had only come into popularity in the early 50s, the t-shirt was still characterized as a state of undress.

Baker would help pioneer the t-shirt as a viable option in an everyday ensemble. More casual and relaxed than a button-up, his perfectly coiffed hair and pretty boy image would go a long way to pull off the look with moxie and style.

Despite this laid-back, clean-cut image, Baker’s personal life would be characterized by lengthy periods of drug abuse. Think of his simple, clean looks as truly putting yourself out there for who you are. Nothing more, nothing less.

Elvis

Don’t be too quick to dismiss ‘The King’ because of the parodied versions of Elvis you’ve seen since his passing. Surely, no one can forget the more flamboyant styles of his later days, most notably his Aloha Eagle jumpsuit and cape. But, let’s not hold it against the guy, and remember his innovation and style savvy.

Credit the music guru as a true style pioneer, searching the fringes of fashion for elements that he eventually popularized for the mass market. It was a clever juxtaposition of Southern good boy and rock ‘n’ roll misfit that quickly thrust him into the role of American heartthrob. Pioneering sharp suits, pegged pants, and high collars, Elvis popularized rockabilly style, and added some much needed edge to conservative white America.

So before jumping to the Army looks, the black leather, and the Western gear, remember the legend for his fusion of the clean cut American Dream with the soul and flavor of the deep South, and that signature hip grinding rock ‘n’ roll edge he gave to men’s fashion.

Jimi Hendrix

Style came as naturally to Jimi Hendrix as his amazing ability to make six strings sing. Alongside the phenomenal sound he delivered with his guitar, Hendrix brought an equally electric take on 60′s fashion to the forefront of his image. Of course, there are the bell bottom jeans, afro, and the head bands, but don’t be fooled into pinning the guitar hero as your typical hippie artist.

Rather, his style was a sharp and glamorous elaboration of bohemian style. There’s the leather jackets, fringe details, popped collars, ruffled shirts, chunky jewelery, and his unforgettable collection of military inspired jackets.

Hendrix was a free spirit in his style, as much as he was in life, and proved that with the right attitude you can pull of just about anything.

Jim Morrison

Jim Morrison was living a balancing act between earth and an unknown spiritual realm that continuously influenced his music, life, and style. His style is a mix of easy breezy California cool, basement poetry readings, and an indigenous tribal edge.

Call it ‘Beatnik Shaman’. With his booming voice, and poetic lyrics, Jim Morrison quickly became a god of sexuality, with his iconic tight low rise leather pants, and slithering snake-like moves that enraptured a generation of men and women alike.

He was a man of extreme confidence in his art, but in terms of style, he approached it with a hung-over nonchalance that only a true rock star could pull off. Laid back, body conscious and a little rough and tumble, this rocker was a style icon that reinvented the rock aesthetic.

Johnny Cash

“The Man in Black” with a “broken soul with a heart of gold” would be how entire generations came to know Johnny Cash. Dressed in black suits and leather jackets, his sense of style was dominated by a brooding masculinity, one that never shied away from a subtle sense of melancholy and romance. Like a tortured poet searching for redemption, he was consistently dressed in mourning.

Johnny Cash was a stylish man, keeping it simple, and tailored to perfection. Cash didn’t need ripped jeans, or beat up leather jackets to communicate his rebel style. Instead, he highlighted his presence with a simplicity and refinement that could only come from a man who knew who he was.

Cash communicated his emotions freely and deeply from his heart, allowing the subtleties of his refinement to elevate his enigmatic persona.

Kanye West

It’s funny to think that industry heavyweights didn’t think Kanye West had enough street appeal to make it in the industry, because today Kanye West is pretty much the definition of street appeal. West brought the hip-hop world away from the gritty back streets to the red carpet, in a unique incarnation of prep-school style with more than a hint of swagger.

There’s a bit of ghetto fabulousness in the mix: lime green, pink, violet, electric blue are just some of the colors in his clothing palate, not to mention a huge array of chunky gold jewelery, and insane eyewear. Thank the icon for adding some much needed punch to classic luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, for whom the artist has done several collaborations.

“Dress like you’re coming from somewhere, and you’ve got some place to go” preaches the style guru, and it might just be us, but we’ll definitely be stealing a tip or two from this ultra-unique cultural visionary.

Kiss

Amongst the glitter and glam of the 1970s, emerged a foursome of misfits we now know as KISS.

Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss, and Ace Frehley were enraptured by the escapism and showmanship of the Glam scene, but aimed for something a step above it all. Donning Kabuki style makeup, and a series of exuberant costumes, their rock star persona’s were born. While the critics were not so impressed by their outlandish looks, Kiss’ captivating costumes and makeup brought rock ‘n’ roll to a whole new level of fantasy that played off every parent’s notion of rock n’ roll: sex, drugs, and of course, the devil.

Today we can have a laugh at the virtuosity of some of these get ups, but one has to admire the courage it takes to make your mark on the scene with your face painted like that.

Kurt Cobain

“Come as you are” is what Kurt Cobain crooned, and the youth have been embracing the spirit ever since. A pioneer of the ‘Grunge’ movement in the Pacific Northwest, his collection of oversized vintage cardigans, graphic T’s, ripped jeans, and Chuck Taylor’s would revolutionize fashion, music, and pop culture forever.

Ironically, the last thing Cobain had on his mind was becoming a trendsetter, since the grunge movement really began as retaliation against the main stream in support of uniqueness and defying convention. In the world of rock ‘n’ roll today, Grunge is the convention. Today Hipsters everywhere sport torn jeans, t-shirts, flannel, and nerd glasses in an attempt to solidify their cool.

He may not have had the life he imagined, but in making the outcast king, he gave new life to the millions of youth his music would influence.

Marvin Gaye

Marvin Gaye had style in spades. Smooth and genuine, much like his music, Gaye ‘s style was an evolution in the same way as his iconic music was. Throughout Motown’s heyday, find Gaye in the smartest tailored suits of the time. His style was a mix of color, texture, and like any fine sartorialist, fit.

Dapper and refined with some signature funk, his styling was sleek and dignified. Throughout the 70′s and 80′s, Marvin transitioned to a much more casual approach to dress, always staying stylish, elegant, and masculine through sporting toques, denim shirts, and plain T’s.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson knew what it was to be a star. In fact, he knew what it was to be a King, and in some cases, and to some fans, a God. He definitely took every liberty in expressing himself in that way, giving us unforgettable looks time and time again. Who can forget the black loafers, rhinestone glove, red leather jacket, and of course that Jheri curl?

Everyone likes to tease, but before he was subject to all the harsh criticism of the media, there probably weren’t that many people who didn’t want to be even a fraction of what Michael Jackson was. Never an imitator, Jackson always went for the drama and sexy cool that being the biggest Pop star in the world affords.

Love him, or hate him, Michael Jackson will forever be remembered for his music, and the weird and wonderful world he created with his style.

Miles Davis

George Frazier of Esquire Magazine once wrote of jazz pioneer Miles Davis, “thank God for the existence of people like Miles Davis: Except, of course, that there are no people like Miles Davis. He is an original. He is a truly well-dressed man.”

As a stylistic innovator in Jazz, his ever changing styles in music were consistent with his wardrobe. Whether playing it conservative in a Brooks Brothers suit or exuding European refinement with slim cut French silhouettes, Davis always gave his distinct spin, playing up a sophistication in tune with his own signature funk.

By the 70’s both his music and style had reached an eclectic avant-garde edge. Like a true artist, Davis always strived for innovation, evolution, and relevance in everything he did.

Pete Doherty

You might not trust Mr. Doherty with many things, given his track record, but trust his ability to put a unique spin on British fashion, bringing the Dandy to a whole new level of grime and dishevelment.

Doherty definitely has some fashion street cred, with multiple collections by Hedi Slimane for Dior Homme inspired by the infamous rock star, and not to mention shacking up with Kate Moss. If that doesn’t do it for you, look for Doherty on the street in some genius fusions of style that give a new attitude to accessories like derby hats, scarves, and beads.

Sadly, Doherty’s reputation as a junkie might forever eclipse his place in the style hall of fame, no matter how much he knew about putting together a great look.

Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams has to be one of the coolest guys in the world. There’s just no debate. As a performer, producer, and most recently designer, the style star impresses with his effortless ability to play it cool. His secret? His style isn’t really one way or the other. It moves with the fluidity Mr. Williams needs to suit his lifestyle.

Find him relaxed in a hoody, graphic T, and jeans, with a unique flash only Pharrell could bring, never falling into the mold of the prototypical rap star uniform. Dressing up, find him polished in a velvet blazer, bow tie, and horn rimmed glasses. Pharrell creates an allure, never adhering rigidly to a single influence, consistently changing it up, and always keeping it individual.

Take a style tip: stay unique to yourself, and embrace a sense of style that gives you the freedom to be yourself in all your forms. Clean and polished, intriguing and evolved, this is why Pharell turns so many heads.

Prince

You just have to love Prince for all that he is, and all that he brings to the table both musically, and stylistically. In music, he brings technical prowess and an infamous perfectionism. To style, he brings a dapper, eclectic vision of Pop stardom.

While it might all be a little out of this world, definitely give the man credit for knowing the importance of a well fitted blazer. Year after year, spot at least one fantastically fitted blazer that, no matter the outlandish color or out of control embellishment, always manages to fit the man like a dream. Prince knows no matter what you’re wearing, if the fit is good, you’re in the money.

Run DMC

Bringing hip hop to the mainstream was no easy feat, but this trio managed to combine gold chains, track suits, and shell-toes into a look that seamlessly translated a musical genre to the masses for the first time. Almost everything synonymous with the early image of a hip-hop artist can be linked back to Run DMC.

Bringing the underground to the surface, Run DMC not only reinvented popular music, but gave the style of the streets a new voice in the market, and established sportswear as a solid foundation for any wardrobe.

The Beatles

The Beatles represent a true anomaly in the world of music and style because of the very fact that they remain influential some 6 decades after their having emerged on the world stage.

Their shaggy hair and smart styling created a revolutionary new look that took the world by storm. The Beatles would became the staple of minimalist Mod London in the sixties, but like their music, the band’s style went on to influence countless artists and everymen.

The Beatles remain classic with their timeless music, and the riff-raff rock edge they brought to classic British styles and tailoring.

The Ramones

You’d think that everyone would have to be over the ironic logo T-shirts of The Ramones, but on any given day if you look hard enough, expect to see someone sporting the iconic band’s mock-presidential seal.

What’s the secret to their longevity? The band never managed to crack into the Billboard Top 100, and their highest charting album peaked at No. 44 in the U.S., so it’s somewhat remarkable that these punk rockers have made such an impact.

The looks were All-American but dirty, roughed up by the street, ready to rock. Their music was as simple as their style, but the Ramones knew all they needed was the right attitude to pull it off.

I found an interesting piece over at Fox News talking about famous people and their inability to spend their money wisely. This time the focus was specifically on musicians who had blown their fortunes. Many people believe that the life of a famous musician is all champagne, Learjets, and a steady flow of royalty payments to pay for it all. This is certainly true for some, but there are also those who have reached the upper echelons of megastardom, only to lose it all in the blink of an eye. I thought it would be interesting to take a look at some of these stars, and how they blew their millions.

Ron Isley

The Isley Brothers were a classic soul group, known for the song “Shout,” which was famously featured in the movie Animal House. They’re also known for giving a young fledgling guitarist by the name of Jimi Hendrix his first break. Their lead singer, Ron Isley, had failed to file tax returns for years, and he declared bankruptcy in 1997 after the IRS seized his property, including his cars and a yacht.

Isley owed $5 million in back taxes and he stood to lose the rights to his songs in order to settle the claim. However, a judge allowed him to complete a bond deal in 2001 instead, averting the auction and allowing him to keep the rights to his catalog. One would think he’d learned his lesson, but in 2006 he was sentenced to 37 months in prison. His crime? Failing to file tax returns.

Willie Nelson

There are few figures in American music as beloved as Willie Nelson. However, in 1990 the Internal Revenue Service seized most of his assets, claiming that he owed them $32 million in back taxes and forcing him to declare bankruptcy that same year.

According to Nelson, his accountants had failed to pay his taxes for years, and they had put his money into tax shelters that the IRS had disallowed. In order to pay off the enormous tab, Nelson started doing commercials for Taco Bell, and he recorded and released the album The IRS Tapes: Who’ll Buy My Memories? in 1992, the entire proceeds of which went straight to his tax debt. By 1993, he was all paid up.

Toni Braxton

In 2007, things were starting to look up for “Un-break My Heart” singer Toni Braxton. Despite selling 25 million albums worldwide, she had declared bankruptcy in 1998 after racking up a $20,000 American Express bill and monthly expenses of over $43,000. However, she soldiered on with her career and released a popular new album in 2000, The Heat. Finally, she was back on track, and she could put her financial troubles behind her.

Braxton’s career renaissance was so successful that she was asked to headline the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas in 2006. The show proved so popular that its run was extended through 2008. However, in April of that year, she was hospitalized for chest pains, and as a heart disease sufferer she decided not to further endanger her health. She decided to play it safe and cancel the remaining run of her show, but the cancellation incurred debts in the tens of millions of dollars. Braxton filed for bankruptcy a second time in October 2010.

Dee Snider

The 1980s were the glory days of heavy metal, and one of the most successful bands of the genre at the time was Twisted Sister of “We’re Not Gonna Take It” fame. Their lead singer, Dee Snider, was a celebrity in his own right, due to his powerful vocals, freakish appearance and congressional testimony that he offered alongside John Denver during the 1985 Parents’ Music Resource Center hearings.

Like many heavy metal bands, Twisted Sister fell out of vogue at the end of the decade, and after its breakup, Snider was never able to find comparable success with another group. He declared bankruptcy during the 1990s, but at the end of the decade he had the unique privilege of writing the song “The Magic of Christmas Day (God Bless Us Everyone)” which was recorded by Celine Dion.

George Clinton

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee George Clinton is the flamboyant leader of the seminal funk groups Parliament and Funkadelic. He is regularly mentioned in the same breath as James Brown, but despite his legendary status, he actually saw very little money for his efforts. His managers and business partners owned the publishing rights to his catalog, and therefore all the monetary compensation. So a flat broke Clinton filed for bankruptcy in 1984 in order to remain afloat.

Sadly, when he filed for bankruptcy, he overlooked the small matter of disclosing the songs he wrote between 1976 and 1983 as a source of possible future income, despite the fact that those years constituted his commercial peak. It’s estimated that this oversight has caused him to lose out on approximately $100 million in royalties.

Isaac Hayes

Before achieving notoriety as the voice of Chef on “South Park,” Isaac Hayes was a famous soul singer in the 1960s and 1970s. Hayes reached the high point of his career in 1971 when “Theme From Shaft,” the title track from the movie Shaft, won an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Hayes’ record label, Stax, became insolvent and shut its doors in 1975. Stax owed Hayes over $5 million, which they couldn’t pay, and this coincided with a general downturn in Hayes’ record sales. With over $6 million in debts, he had little choice but to declare bankruptcy, and when he did, he lost the rights to all of his future royalties from the music that had made him famous in the first place.

Marvin Gaye

The late Marvin Gaye is known as one of the greatest soul singers of all time, known for such classic songs as “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and timeless albums like What’s Going On. However, his love life didn’t match the success of his singing career. His marriage to Anna Gordy was damaged beyond repair when he had an affair with a woman and fathered two children with her.

Gordy filed for divorce, but Gaye had very little money for alimony and child support payments. Despite his impressive record sales, his bank account was nearly depleted, thanks to extravagant spending on cars, real estate and cocaine. Believing that it was the only way she was going to see any money from him, she agreed to take $600,000 in royalties from his next album instead.

Gaye filed for bankruptcy in 1976, and the album in which she held a stake, bitterly titled Here, My Dear, was released in 1978 to scathing reviews and poor sales.

Meat Loaf

Marvin Lee Aday is better known as the singer Meat Loaf. His 1977 album, Bat Out of Hell, is one of the highest-selling of all time, a ranking it shares with such all-time classics as AC/DC’s Back in Black and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Known for such classic songs as “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” and “Paradise by the Dashboard Light,” the album made the singer a major, if unlikely, star.

While attempting to create a follow-up to the huge hit album, he lost his voice and wasn’t able to complete the recording until 1981, by which time he was no longer popular. The album that he recorded, Dead Ringer, sold only a tiny fraction of the amount that its predecessor sold, and by 1983 he was $1.6 million in debt, forcing him to declare bankruptcy.

However, in 1993, his career rebounded in a big way with the release of Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, which went to number one in three countries and featured the single “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” which went to number one in no less than 28 countries.

Ted Nugent

Thanks to 1970s hits like “Cat Scratch Fever” and “Stranglehold,” hard rock guitarist Ted Nugent was at one time among the highest-grossing concert attractions in America, Unlike many other rock musicians his age, he has famously never indulged in drugs or alcohol, instead preferring such diversions as hunting and running a “Kamp for Kids.”

Unfortunately, he still ended up broke. The Nuge found himself in this very situation after his managers invested his considerable wealth into a series of bad business ventures, such as investments in Clydesdale horses and mink farms. Nugent declared bankruptcy in 1980 as a result, but he recovered before the decade’s end and still enjoys a busy career today.

Mick Fleetwood

Mick Fleetwood is the drummer for Fleetwood Mac, the rock band best known for the hit 1977 album Rumors. As one of the best selling records of all time, the performance royalties alone should have had the drummer set up for life, but he spent his money as quickly as he got it, buying millions of dollars in real estate and using cocaine to the tune of several thousand dollars per month.

By his own estimate, Fleetwood’s years of nose candy consumption cost him roughly $8 million, and by 1984 all of his money was gone. With the debts insurmountable, Mick Fleetwood filed for personal bankruptcy, and it would take him almost ten years to get back on his feet again. The drummer has been clean and sober since 1991.

Billy Joel

Billy Joel is one of the most successful recording artists of all time, but that hasn’t exempted him from financial difficulties, and he has declared bankruptcy not just once but multiple times. In the most famous instance, his former manager, Frank Weber, siphoned $30 million from him for personal loans and dicey business investments, none of which Joel was aware of until an audit took place years after the fact.

The singer filed for bankruptcy, but he had lost more than just a very large sum of money. Weber had been Joel’s brother-in-law, and he is also godfather to Joel’s daughter Alexa. However, the singer didn’t let sentimentality get in his way, and he sued Weber for $90 million for fraud and misappropriation of funds.

Jerry Lee Lewis

Jerry Lee Lewis is a true pioneer of rock and roll, and the only artist ever to have two songs hit the number one spot on the pop, country and R&B charts simultaneously. However, his career was damaged almost beyond repair in 1958 when he married his second cousin, Myra Gale Brown, who was all of 13 years old at the time. When this situation came to light, the backlash against Lewis was immense and, it seemed, impossible to overcome.

It took a decade for his public image to be rehabilitated, and eventually he had earned back enough good will to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. However, just two years later, he filed for bankruptcy, citing debts of $3 million and no assets to speak of, despite the high sales of his music in its heyday and his status as a musical giant.

MC Hammer

MC Hammer is fondly remembered for his hit songs, his energetic dancing and his large billowy pants. He hit the big time in 1990 with the song “U Can’t Touch This,” and his album Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em went on to sell ten million copies. Hammer rewarded himself for his good fortune by buying a $30 million house and employing a full staff for it that cost him half a million dollars a month.

Sadly, his fame didn’t last, and before he knew it, he was $13.7 million in debt with only $9.6 million in assets, prompting him to file for bankruptcy in 1996. Among the outstanding debts that he had at the time were $100,000 to the Internal Revenue Service, half a million dollars in legal fees and another half a million dollars in the form of a loan from Deion Sanders of the Dallas Cowboys.
Mamy Rocks career began when she was 65. Her grandson was celebrating his birthday in a London nightclub, and asked Ruth to join him and his friends. Ruth was bewitched by the lively atmosphere that made her feel so much younger. She talked to her grandson about becoming a DJ herself, and although he thought she was mad, he agreed to introduce her to a young music producer. After learning the basics of electro music, Mamy Rock developed her very own style, and one of todays most in-demand DJs.
